In a press release from the Ministry of Immigration and Integration, it is confirmed that select cases that had otherwise been frozen due to an error in the Danish Central Crime Register will now be unfrozen.
The error had initially been thought to be able to impact authorities’ administrative capacity in certain cases, especially with regard to considering whether criminal histories could affect the application.
This led the Ministry of Immigration and Integration to announce in September that it would freeze select applications.
The types of cases this freeze has impacted have been select cases regarding permanent residency, select cases of family reunification, and select cases of naturalisation. Note that not all cases within these categories were impacted by the freeze.
Now, the Ministry has announced these cases will once again be unfrozen. In the press release, they write that the Ministry of Justice “assesses that the consequences of the error for the Criminal Register are very limited.”
It also noted that “the National Police, in connection with the further work in cooperation with the affected authorities, will determine the extent to which the error may have affected case processing at other authorities and, if so, decide how to handle it.”
