Complaints
Think we got something wrong, or treated you unfairly? Here is how to complain, and what you can do if you are not satisfied with our answer.
1. Complain to us
Email the editor at jonas.laursen@danishdispatch.dk. Please include:
- the headline of, or a link to, the article
- what you think is wrong, and why
- your name and how we can reach you
We read every complaint, and the editor will reply in writing. If we got something wrong, we will correct it openly, as described in our corrections policy.
2. Ask us to publish your reply (genmæle)
If we have published factually incorrect information about you that could cause you significant harm, you can ask the editor to publish your reply, called a genmæle. The request must be in writing and sent to us within 12 weeks of publication. It is a good idea to include the text of your reply. Minor errors and opinions are not covered. If we refuse your request, we will tell you in writing, and you can take the refusal to the Press Council within 12 weeks of receiving it.
3. Ask us to remove or anonymise something
If you want an article removed, anonymised or hidden from search engines, you must ask us first. If we say no, you can take it to the Press Council.
4. Complain to the Press Council (Pressenævnet)
If you are not satisfied, you can complain to Pressenævnet, the Danish Press Council. It is independent and free to use.
- You can complain within 12 weeks of publication. If you complained to us first, you have 12 weeks from our reply.
- You can complain if you are mentioned or pictured in what we published, directly or indirectly. A general interest in the topic is not enough.
- Complaints must be in writing, by email to sekr@pressenaevnet.dk or by post.
You can also go straight to the Press Council without complaining to us first. Read how to complain to Pressenævnet (in Danish).
Our standards
The Danish Dispatch is registered with Pressenævnet and follows the Danish guidelines for sound press ethics. Read more in our editorial standards. The responsible editor is Jonas Laursen, editor-in-chief.
