When you’re here, you’re more than a visitor
There are over 200,000 internationals who live and work in Denmark. Internationals contribute to the Danish economy, fill vital roles, and are an important part of local communities.
Therefore, it’s vital that internationals are also given the tools and resources to understand and thrive in Denmark. However, unfortunately there is shockingly little media targeted to internationals.
The Danish Dispatch is an English-language news site trying to fix this.
What is The Danish Dispatch?
The site will launch on the 1st of October and will hopefully serve as a tool for internationals to better understand what is happening in Danish politics, business, and culture.
New articles covering the biggest stories in Denmark, with focus on the angle most relevant for internationals, will be published every single day. Additionally, The Danish Dispatch will also publish original journalism on stories that impact internationals.
The media is registered with the Danish Press Council (Pressenævnet) meaning it must adhere to their guidelines for sound press ethics as stipulated by the Danish Media Liability Act.
Who runs The Danish Dispatch?
The Danish Dispatch is spearheaded by founder and editor-in-chief Jonas Laursen. Before launching the news site, Jonas has spent the past year making YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram videos about Danish politics in English.
Jonas has himself lived many years as an expat abroad (in the US, China, and the UK) and understands the challenges of being an international. He lives in Aarhus and is therefore focused on the goings on across Denmark – not just in Copenhagen. Something he emphasises in his coverage, as internationals do not just live in the capital, but all across the country.
