Danish music festivals reveal first names in line-ups

Two of Denmark’s largest music festivals, Roskilde and NorthSide, have revealed the first names in their line-ups for next summer. They include Tame Impala, Kacey Musgraves, and Omah Lay.

It has only been a few months since the Danish music festival season of 2026, but preparations for the 2027 season are already underway.

On Wednesday, both Roskilde Festival and NorthSide Festival announced the first tranche of names performing next year.

Roskilde, the largest music festival in Denmark, has announced eighteen artists. NorthSide, a significant festival in Aarhus, has announced its first five names.

In both cases, the line-ups include a combination of Danish and international artists.

Tame Impala headlines Roskilde

Of the eighteen names that Roskilde Festival has released, it is especially the Australian psychedelic music project Tame Impala that has drawn attention.

The band, spearheaded by Kevin Parker, is known for hits such as “Dracula”, “Loser”, and “The Less I Know the Better”.

Tame Impala will perform on Orange Scene, the festival’s biggest stage, reserved for the biggest names.

Other well-known artists

Danish actor and singer Emma Sehested Høeg will also perform on Orange Scene next year, after having performed at the festival last year too.

She has broken through with her 2024 album I Know All the Words But I Can’t Say Goodbye and her featured performance on Andreas Odbjerg’s “svært at være fantastisk”.

Another relatively well-known artist in the line-up for Roskilde is the American Grammy-nominated Caroline Polachek.

She is an alternative pop artist known for the single “So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings” and for collaborations with other artists including Charli XCX.

Also featured in the line-up is American country-pop singer-songwriter Kacey Musgraves, known for songs such as “Space Cowboy” and “Butterflies”.

Rounding out the bigger names on the list are American hyperpop artist Underscores and Patti Smith’s new band, the Patti Smith Quartet.

The lesser-known artists

An additional 12 names have also been announced for Roskilde. These include Danish rapper Kundo and American post-metal band Neurosis.

Also on the list are Norwegian rap duo Karpe, British indie-pop artist Suki Waterhouse, and British Afrobeat jazz group Ezra Collective.

Additionally, attendees will be able to see the Danish death-doom group Konvent, American techno artists G Jones B2B Eprom, and American hardcore rock band Drain.

Finally, rounding out the complete list are British punk duo Lambrini Girls, American genre-bending band Nu Jazz, British dream-pop artist James K, and American rapper 454.

These eighteen artists will be part of a much wider line-up of still-to-be-announced artists, somewhere in the ballpark of 180 artists altogether.

Nigerian star leads NorthSide announcements

NorthSide has announced its first five artists too. Leading the charge is Nigerian R&B artist Omah Lay. Lay is known for singles such as “Attention”, “Soso”, and “Bad Influence”.

Also on the roster is the American rock band Turnstile. They are known for albums such as Glow On and Never Enough and hits such as “BLACKOUT”, “NEVER ENOUGH”, and “BIRDS”.

The other three artists announced are Danish singer-songwriter Mille, Chilean reggaeton artist Akriila, and Danish alternative rock band Von Quar.
